2025年6月27日上午，现代供应链管理研究院第119期学术论坛在笃行楼712会议室如期举行。Vinod R. Singhal，现任美国亚特兰大佐治亚理工学院舍勒商学院运营管理领域的讲席教授和学科负责人。他是运营与供应链管理领域的国际知名学者，担任Production and Operations Management的Department Editor；担任Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Journal Of Operations Management,等杂志的Associate Editor，在国际学术界享有盛誉。报告题目为“ Geopolitics and supply chain disruptions-Financial consequences of the 2018 ban on ZTE Corp.”

论坛上，Vinod教授就他的研究成果，向在场的参会人员进行了生动的汇报分享。他同与会人员深入的探讨供应链风险的不同来源以及是如何影响供应商、客户与竞争对手的。会后，Vinod教授耐心解答师生们提出的研究问题及论文撰写等相关问题，现场气氛热烈。未来，我院将继续加强高质量科研交流平台的建设，为学者们提供更多的交流与合作机会，共同打开科研工作的新局面，为学校双一流建设注入新的活力。

【摘要】

This talk will cover three things. First, it will provide an overview on how to select topics for empirical research. Second, it will cover different sources of supply chain risks.  Third, it will describe how the supply chip disruptions from the 2018 ban USA on ZTE Corp, affected the stock price performance of ZTE, its suppliers, its customers, and its competitors. I will also discuss the implications of supply chain disruptions caused by geopolitical issues.

【报告人简介】

Vinod R. Singhal is the Charles W. Brady Chair Professor of Operations Management at the Scheller College of Business at Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. He has a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from BITS, Pilani, India; MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, India; and Ph.D. from University of Rochester; Rochester, USA. Prior to joining Georgia Tech., he worked for three years as a Senior Research Scientist at General Motors Research Labs.  Vinod is a Departmental Editor of Production and Operations Management, and Associate Editor of Journal of Operations Management, Management Science, and Manufacturing and Service Operations Management. He is on the Academic Advisory Board of the European School of Management and Technology, Germany. He has served on the Board of Examiners of the Georgia Oglethorpe Award, Bell South's President Quality Award, and the Baldrige Board of Examiners.
